Rang De Basanti a hit among students

The cultural committee of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College celebrated the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh,Rajguru and Sukhdev on Tuesday in an event titled Rang De Basanti.

The chief guest on the occasion was famous Punjabi novelist S Baldev Singh. The show was conducted by Harnavbir Singh,student convener of the committee.

Events such as music and poetry gala,a declamation contest and slogan-writing competition were the highlight of the event. Baldev Singh shared his experiences while writing his famous epic novel about Saheed Bhagat Singh.

Lovepreet Singh Deol was felicitated on the occasion for being nominated for International WHOS WHO of PBW 2008 in USA. Final-year student Ranjit Singh was also felicitated for his record-breaking performance at the recently held PTU athletic meet.

Art(y) affair
The Photography and Fine Arts Club of the college organised various competitions on Tuesday. More than 150 students participated in various events like rangoli,on-the-spot painting,poster-making,cartooning,face painting,body painting,handicrafts and clay modelling. The exhibition was inaugurated by Baldev Singh who appreciated the work done by students.
