After Rakhi’s Swayamwar, and Rakhi’s bachchas,NDTV Imagine’s giving its viewes two new heart-rending sagas packed with emotion and drama. While ‘Palkon ki Chaaon Mein’ is a journey of an orphan girl, her dreams to love and to be loved by a family,’Basera’,is a tale of four families which explores the fragile bonds that tie parents and their children. Starting Monday August 17th,these stirring sagas will air every Monday to Friday at 9 pm & 9.30 pm respectively only on Imagine.

Commenting on Basera,Prem Sagar of Sagar Arts says,”For decades, the shows produced by the Sagar Parivar have adhered to the mission of conveying a positive social message. Life is unpredictable, and no parent can be absolutely sure about the behavior of their children especially in today’s materialistic world! Basera will open the inner eyes of youngsters and parents alike. It is a classic family saga for viewers across all ages more so for teenagers, who have diluted their values, ethics and dharma with time and circumstances.”

“What makes Palkon Ki Chaaon Mein stand apart is the simplicity of the storyline. It is told through the perspective of an orphan girl and her struggle to survive. It reflects the hopes and dreams of all young girls to be accepted and loved by their in-laws,” says Rashmi Sharma of Rashmi Sharma Telefilms.

And this one’s been shot at a much grander scale. The crew has used four different locations for the shoot, almost covering four states in India. While the base shooting takes place at Aamgaon,Gujarat, for Mahal and parts of Bithur,Maheshwar’s Ghats in Madhya Pradesh have been used as Bithur Ghats and Jaipur for the outdoor shoots like the akhada (wrestling ring sequence),commissionery, exteriors of Bithur, etc. For the sets,a sum of four crores has been spent so far and equal care has been taken in details – be it costumes, look, location, character et al. In fact, all the male characters and more than 50 people had tonsured their heads to enact the characters of Brahmins from Uttar Pradesh!

Meanwhile, the protagonist,Ulka Gupta, playing Jhansi Ki Rani’s role is a complete enthusiast. A cricket buff, she is also into writing skits and plays.
