Students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) jointly held a rally outside Dr M S Randhawa library to express their solidarity with former ultra Ranjit Singh Gill alias Kuki,who has been sentenced to life imprisonment in Lalit Maken murder case. Kuki is currently on bail but his appeal against his conviction was recently dismissed by the Delhu High Court.
Demanding justice for Kuki,students unanimously demanded that the Delhi government should remit Kukis life sentence because the latter had already spent nearly 16 years in jail.
Gurpreet Singh Brar,president,PAU-Students Association,while addressing the students,said,He has already spent 17 years behind bars and five years on conditional bail. We urge the government to intervene and give him justice.
After spending a long time behind bars,Kuki presently with a special permission from the university,had reinitiated his M.Sc programme on the campus. Along with it,he is also reported to be training university sportspersons physically voluntarily.
Marching on the PAU roads,students of both the universities submitted a memorandum to PAU registrar.
Later,a copy of the memorandum was also presented to the deputy commissioner which was received by additional deputy commissioner,Kuldeep Singh Vaid.
