The class 4 employees of Kundan Vidya Mandir,one of the largest city schools in Civil Lines sat on dharna on Saturday,causing inconvenience to parents,as bus drivers refused to run the school buses.
Only after the children reached the school with their parents,they found out that the school had declared a holiday.
Around 125 employees,including peons,drivers,maids,chowkidars and sweepers are demanding a hike in their dearness allowance (DA).
Later,police officials intervened and a consensus was reached with the management of the school that whatever was decided by the CBSE would be applicable.
The employees were also miffed over the suspension of five employees. Workers said they were suspended because ‘they agitated’,however school principal Navita Puri said that ‘they were suspended because of indiscipline.
Puri added,”Our employees already get 65 per cent DA,along with other benefits,but they are demanding more. Now,they have agreed that till the CBSE does not spell out any verdict,they would not strike work”.
Rakesh Kumar,general secretary,KVM Employees Union,said,”We will follow the CBSE guidelines,till further order,and resume work..
