I-T raids at Jagraon

A team of 40 income tax officials headed by additional commissioner (I-T) KJ Singh swooped down at nine premises in the town on Tuesday. The raids which began at about eleven in the morning were still on till the time of filing of this report and the official said that the details of recoveries made would be available in a day or two only.

When contacted,Singh informed,“These are a part of our routine exercise. We had some information on bungling of taxes and hence we are here. The task is huge and we have gone through a large number of documents and files. It will take a day or two to work out the exact amount of recoveries that we will make.”

Meanwhile it has been learnt that the teams raided an education institution,three brick kilns,a doctor and four dal mills. This is one of the largest income tax raids in the area.
