Autorickhaw union meets DTO
A meeting of the deputation of District Autorickshaw Workers Federation was held with District Transport Officer (DTO),Ludhiana ,Ashwani Kumar and SP (Traffic) Sajjan Kumar Cheema. On informing the DTO about the problems being faced by autorickshaw drivers due to closure of diesel operated autorickshaw,the DTO assured autorickshaw owners that they will not have to face any problem in the completion of their documents, said Kulveer Singh Khalsa,District President of the Federation,in a press release issued today. SP (Traffic) Sajjan Kumar Cheema,assured that none would be allowed to violate traffic rules and it would be mandatory for autorickshaw drivers to wear uniform and carry identity cards.
151 saplings planted at Sacred Heart
To commemorate the death anniversary of Shaheed Udham Singh,Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School in B R S Nagar in collaboration with Lions Club planted saplings in the city. The dignitaries of the Lions Club planted 151 saplings on the school campus.
Inter-house quiz contest held
The Humanities Forum (Senior Section) of Kundan Vidya Mandir organised an inter-house quiz contest. Six teams,one from each house,participated in the contest. Subhash House was declared the winner with 49 points followed by Tagore House and Patel House which scored 28.5 and 15 points,respectively.
IMA holds seminar on health services
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) organised a seminar on Health services to the masses of India and Clinical Establishment Bill. Dr Narotam Dewan,President,IMA Ludhiana,said,Even after 63 years of Independence,the life in India is cheap,people are suffering in silence and dying from diseases. I am sorry to say that the promises have not been kept. A compression of the health data from the WHO health portal on the Internet will highlight the difference in the health services being provided toIndian population as compared to the population of the rest of the world.
Former SCD Govt College professor bereaved
Rolita Thapar (63),wife of Professor S K Thapar,former Head of English Department,SCD Government College and former Chairman and Deputy Director of Panjab University Regional Centre,Muktsar,died on Sunday morning. She was cremated at Civil Lines cremation ground. Her bhog ceremony will take place on August 12 from 2 to 3 pm at Ram Darbar Mandir in Kitchlu Nagar.
