IMA to launch cancer awareness camp tomorrow
The Indian Medical Association,Ludhiana Chapter,will celebrate the International Women’s Day by launching a campaign against cancer. Dr Narotam Dewan,president,IMA Ludhiana,said,“On March 8,the IMA will organise awareness lectures on the prevention of cancer diseases prevalent in female population. The doctors will make the public aware of cancer of cervix (opening of uterus) and breast cancer.”

Students honoured at Anand Isher School
Anand Isher Senior Secondary Public School orgnaised a function here to honour meritorious students. R S Dhaliwal was the chief guest on the occasion. Students presented a colourful cultural programme. It included a Punjabi skit ‘Vodafone’,a Hindi play ‘Sudama’ and a spectacular show of fancy dress. The school gymnastic team also displayed its skills.

Jagraon college celebrates golden jubilee
L R DAV College in Jagraon celebrated its golden jubilee annual prize distribution function at the college campus on Saturday where Manish Tewari,Member Parliament,was the chief guest. He was accompanied by Gurdeep Singh Bhaini,Jagraon MLA,Darshan Singh Brar Baghapurana MLA,Raman Kumar Subramanium,Pawan Dewan and Satwinder Singh Grewal.

The programme commenced with the lighting of lamp in the honour of goddess Saraswati. Tewari in his address encouraged students to march ahead to face the new,fast changing world with confidence and firm determination. About 500 students received prizes on the occasion.

GCW holds prize distribution function
The annual prize distribution function of the Government College for Women was held on Friday.

As many as 300 students from arts,commerce and science were awarded for their excellent performances in academics,sports & extra-curricular activities.

Sportking institute holds Avant-Garde 2010
‘Avant-Garde 2010’- the annual function of the Sportking Institute of Fashion Designing,was organised at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan on Saturday. Satpal Gosain,Deputy Speaker,Punjab Vidhan Sabha,was the chief guest at the event. To break the monotony of their daily routine,the students presented an amalgam of fun and frolic including festival of dance,drama,music and ramp walk.
