To take care of theft cases, the Ludhiana Focal Point Association (Phase IVA) has decided to extend security guard cover in their phase during day hours as well. The Association has already hired private security guards for night hours. They guard the area from 8 pm to 8 am.
Rajan Gupta, president of the Association, said,There were lots of theft cases in our factories. When the police were not able to control the situation,we installed gates on all four corners of our phase and hired eight security guards who are on duty during night hours. The major theft cases have reduced a lot. But petty thefts are still happening. To control all these,we are thinking of extending the security cover during the day time as well.
The Association members are already paying Rs 500 per month to remain secure during night hours and may have to shell out another Rs 500 per month.
We will bring this point at our meeting and are hopeful that it will be agreed upon soon because it is for the benefit of all, said Gupta.
Explaining about petty thefts, the Ludhiana Focal Point Association (Phase IVA) president said that during day hours robberies cannot happen. So a few kg raw material like scrap, raw material for nuts and bolts, nickel etc go missing.
This is noticed when they check the stocks at the end of the month. Industrialists have not ruled out a nexus between their own workers and the gang committing the thefts.
It needs to be mentioned that there are about 150 industrial units in this phase. Apart from this, the industrialists want to get the water pipes changed in this phase because of the repeated mixing of sewer water with the drinking water supply.
Joginder Kumar, chairman of the Association, said that Superintending Engineer Kamlesh Bansal stated that this project has been approved and work will start soon.
The Association members have held a general body meeting and welcomed Mahesh Khanna, the new GM of the District Industries Centre (DIC). They also gave a farewell to outgoing GM Vishvbandhu, who has been transferred to Mohali.
Gupta told the members that the Association has already got the storm sewer work done from Municipal Corporation to avoid water-logging during the rainy season and construction of metalled roads has been started.
Garbage lifting has also been started where criminal activities were occuring. The members have started maintaining their parks which were wearing a deserted look.
