Encroachment removed at Hambaran Road

The Municipal Corporation authorities on Friday removed encroachment from a 4.5 acre plot on Hambaran Road. Ranvir Singh had constructed two rooms on the plot and had been tilling the rest of the land. The land was under his possession for the last 15 years.

A court case of long standing recently went in favour of the MC,which then decided to take action. Senior town planner Balkar Singh Brar along with other officers went to the spot. Ranvir and his son Randhir had come to the spot and had allegedly tried to obstruct the demolition drive by manhandling the staff. However,the demolition team was accompanied by a police escort of over 100 men.

The rooms were demolished and the land was taken in possession for the MC,Brar told Newsline.
