Fingers crossed, candidates wait, take stock of campaign

After hectic electioneering in the last two months,a majority of the candidates including SAD-BJP’s Gurcharan Singh Galib and Congress candidate Manish Tewari took a sigh of relief as the canvassing ended last evening.

While the SAD-BJP candidate Gurcharan Singh Galib was seen cooling his heels at the Sarabha Nagar residence-cum-election office, his rival Manish Tewari, though was also in a relaxed mood, however,he was busy in a meeting at his election office in Welkom Palace to take the stock of the preparations.

Sunil Datt,an associate of the Congress candidate, said,”Tewari saab was very relaxed today as compared to the other days. He was in a lighter mood but kept meeting party workers and supporters. As usual,he was very confident throughout the day.”

On the other hand,SAD-BJP candidate Galib took it easy. “Today there were no more meetings, just chit-chats and cracking of jokes. I am at peace and very relieved as I the phase of addressing rallies is over. Party workers kept pouring throughout the day,” Galib told Newsline.

When asked whether he was feeling any jittery for tomorrow,Galib said,”I think we have done our best. And the rest depends on the God and of course the voters. Till now,I have contested the Lok Sabha elections four times and on all the occasions,I was never worried about the outcome of the polls. On each occasion,I stopped thinking about the results as soon as the campaigning ended and this fifth time is no different.”
