Following the recommendations of District Congress Committee chief Pawan Dewan and party Observer and PCC Vice-President Laal Singh,27 party workers have been expelled from primary membership for six years. A few are contesting as independents and some others are helping them campaign. Those expelled include Makhan Singh,Gurpreet Gill,Gurdeep Singh,Dev Raj (candidate Usha Rani), Rakesh Kumar,Sukhdev Bawa and Subhash Tehna,Baljit Kaur,Kulwant Singh (candidate Manjit Kaur),Sardool Singh Grewal,Ashwani Sharma, Rajesh Jain (Kala Navkar),Ashok Kumar Virmani,Baljinder Singh Sandhu,Raj Kumar Sood and Krishan Kharbanda (candidate Anita Kharbanda).
