Ludhiana: The crime rate came down drastically and many old cases were solved during the last five months. The five months in Ludhiana was more than satisfactory,said outgoing police commissioner PS Gill who was transferred as IG Patiala on Friday. He has been replaced by IG Bathinda range Nirmal Singh Dhillon. Gill said,“Initially,I faced few problems but later things became easy. Snatching incidents reduced from seven daily to none or once in a while. I also solved the kidnapping case of industrialist Manish Bahrara in record time. In short,my performance was excellent in the city and I am leaving on a happy note.” Nirmal Singh Dhillon will take charge on Monday.

Youth fest ‘Fusion 2013’ concludes

LUDHIANA: The 7th edition of the Inter-School Youth Festival ‘Fusion 2013’ concluded on Saturday. More than 31 schools including schools from Pakistan,Nepal,Bahrain took part in the three-day fest. Students of BVM,Kitchlu Nagar,Ludhiana performed their winning group dance which mesmerised the audience. Principal Paramjit Kaur congratulated the teams. Vibrance- 2013,a fashion show was also presented by the students.

‘Censor board needed for Punjabi music’

Ludhiana: Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans who performed at Nehru Sidhant Kendra on Friday said that there is a need to establish a censor board for Punjabi music keeping in view the vulgar lyrics and meaningless music. He added that at present many singers claim to be Sufi singers but they are fooling the people.
