Indian Society of Weed Sciences gets new VP
Professor and Head,Department of Agronomy,Dr Ujagar Singh Walia,has been appointed as the vice-president of the Indian Society of Weed Sciences. Dr Walia has served the Punjab Agricultural University in the weed control scheme since 1974 and has given 93 recommendations for package of practices for Kharif and Rabi crops. He has contributed 147 research papers,159 extension articles,two books on weed control and 10 bulletins in the field of weed management.
MC demolition drive
Demolition drives took place in various parts of the city on Friday. MC building branch authorities sealed a timber house,because its building plan was not approved by the MC. The team also demolished an under-construction building in Model Gram being constructed by Saluja cloth house owners. Apart from this,another commercial building was demolished,as it was being built in a residential area.
Green Day held
Green Day was observed in Guru Harkrishan Public School on Friday. Director of the school,Karamvir Singh,was the chief guest on the occasion. Students planted saplings and presented cultural programme.
