Two persons died and one was critically injured in two road accidents at Baddowal on the Ferozepur Road this morning. In both the accidents,the accused drivers fled from the spot leaving behind their vehicles.
The deceased have been identified as Ajay Kumar,a cook at the prestigious Sutlej Club and Boota Singh,a resident of Baddowal. In the first accident,Ajay Kumar’s companion,Kesar,also a cook at Sutlej Club,got seriously injured and has been admitted to the DMC Hospital.
The first accident occurred around 8.30 am when Ajay and Kesar were going towards Mullanpur from Ludhiana on a motorcyle. They were reportedly hit by a speeding Tata 407 vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction. While Ajay died on the spot,Kesar got seriously injured. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital but later shifted to the DMC Hospital. Meanwhile,the erring driver of Tata 407 fled from the spot leaving behind his vehicle. The police have impounded the vehicle and have registered a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving against the driver.
Around 10 am,cyclist Boota Singh was hit by a private bus just a little father from the first accident site. He was rushed to Mediciti Hospital but the doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police have registered a case against the driver.
