Despite the scorching heat, the summer this year is proving to be the best for 22-year-old Ankita Jain. After cracking the CAT (Common Admission Test) in January with 99.28 percentile, she is now just 15 days away from her dream destination: IIM-Ahmedabad.
With four IIMs beckoning her,Ankita chose Ahmedabad, saying it is worth the wait and the hard work. Ankita was declared the topper in the exam in the Punjab region.
The B Com graduate from Khalsa College for Women had been harbouring the aim of getting entry into one of the prestigious IIMs for over a year and her dream was fulfilled in her second attempt.
I am very excited and a little anxious, too. While excitement is natural, what makes me anxious is the fact that I have never stayed away from my family all my life, she says. This is the first time I am going to be away from my home for months together.
But Ankita is all determined to deal with homesickness and has in fact started packing her bags. Ill join IIM Ahmedabad some time in mid-June.
Meeting the best of the brains there is going to be a great experience for me. I am really looking forward to it, she says.
When asked about the recession taking a hit at the job opportunities,Ankita says,India is pretty safe. It is slowdown, not recession in India. As for job opportunities,it is always the survival of the fittest.
Ankita says lack of jobs in private sector might also direct the best talent to look to public sector units.
And since she comes from a business family,Ankita also plans to expand the family venture. I will first have a stint with some reputed MNCs,gain first-hand experience, and then do my best to be a successful entrepreneur, she says.
