Will support farmers till they get their dues,says Youth Cong

To support the protesting farmers in Aligarh and Mathura,the western zone of the Youth Congress in Uttar Pradesh held a rally in Meerut district on Tuesday.

To support the protesting farmers in Aligarh and Mathura,the western zone of the Youth Congress in Uttar Pradesh held a rally in Meerut district on Tuesday. The members said they will support such agitations across the state till the farmers are compensated according to their demands.

The agitation by the farmers is being led by Babu Ram Katelia,who is a senior Congress leader. Their demands are genuine but the BSP government wants to suppress them with cane and bullets. The Congress has decided to support such agitations till the time the farmers get their due compensation, said state party chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi,who led the rally along with Indian Youth Congress national president Rajiv Satav.

She added that the presence of a large number of youths in the rally shows that even youngsters are fed up with the policies of state government and look forward to change.

Satav asked the members of the youth wing to take up farmers issues by organising Assembly-wise dharnas and protests. Things have crossed limits. We will have to take up these issues at the grassroots level, he said.

Vidit Chaudhary,president of the Western Zone of Youth Congress in the state also the programme coordinator said: We have decided to take up this issue in a big way because many youngsters have been injured in police firing and lathicharge in Aligarh district. The victims included Youth Congress workers. Residents of western UP were participating in a peaceful protest.

According to sources,the Youth Congress is preparing to hold a similar rally in Bundelkhand to highlight underdevelopment of the region and unemployment among the youths.
