The police said the deceased was running a typing institute in the village and that, according to his father, was also preparing for the civil services examinations. A 48-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly beat to death a 25-year-old man and also attacked his daughter with an iron rod after he found both together in her room at their home in Daulawala village of Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district late on Sunday night.
While the man was declared brought dead on arrival at a hospital, the 22-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital, from where she has been referred to the medical college in Meerut. Her condition was stated to be critical.
“We have arrested the father, Jaswant Singh, for killing Rohit Singh of the same village and critically injuring his daughter on Sunday night. Saurabh, the elder brother of the deceased, has lodged an FIR at the Dilari police station and named Jaswant as the accused for killing his brother. Our investigation is ongoing, though we have arrested the accused,” said Subhash Gangwar, Superintendent of Police, Moradabad.
The police said the deceased was running a typing institute in the village and that, according to his father, was also preparing for the civil services examinations.
“My brother was about to get dinner when he received a call on his mobile last night. He went out immediately after completing the call, and one hour later he somehow reached home in a pool of blood. We rushed him to a private hospital, where the doctors pronounced him dead,” Saurabh said.
His mother Pushpa Singh said Rohit Singh and the woman had an affair but that Jaswant Singh never liked her son. “While he was beating my son, his daughter came to his rescue, but the father kept on beating her with the iron rod. He then dragged both outside his door late at night,” said the mother.
“We are further investigating the case to determine if other members of the woman’s family were involved in the lethal attack,” said Kunwar Akash Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Moradabad Rural.
