Undertrial dies after police torture,SI suspended

An undertrial,who was admitted in a hospital after he was allegedly tortured in police custody,succumbed to his injuries,according to the family. One police sub-inspector has been suspended and a case registered in this connection,Additional SP Radhey Mohan Bhardwaj said.

The family of the victim,Balvir,has alleged that the in-charge of Awagarh police station along with a sub-inspector and two constables had tortured Balvir. They alleged that the policemen had used petrol filled injections on Balvir’s private parts.

A resident of Isoli village,in Sakroli police station area,Balvir had died yesterday in Lucknow’s PGI hospital where he was admitted. He had been arrested on April 23 in a murder case.

The family said they have complained to the UP DGP and National Human Rights Commission against those involved in the case.
