Uncle held for ‘raping’ minor over 2 yrs

A minor girl was allegedly raped several times by her uncle over a period of two years. Police arrested the accused today.

According to the police,a complaint was lodged by the father of the 15-year-old girl on Tuesday,alleging that Shailendra,his sister’s husband,had been raping his daughter for the last two years. The girl’s ordeal came to light when her medical condition deteriorated a couple of days ago,the police said. When her father asked about it,she told him that Shailendra had raped her for the first time about two years ago. The girl also told the father that when she became pregnant a few months ago,Shailendra got the pregnancy terminated. The girl’s mother had died a few years ago.

The police said that the girl’s father,who ran a betel shop near his house,would leave for work in the morning,leaving the girl alone in the house. Shailendra,who too was involved in selling betel,used to take advantage of this and target the girl. He would threaten the girl of dire consequences.

Inspector in-charge (Civil Lines) Satyendra Tiwari said: “A case of rape was registered on Tuesday and the girl was taken for medical examination,which established the offence.”
