Two countries and a fake encounter

Investigation into the killing of two men,one of them Indian,in an “encounter” in Nepal on the night of March 5 has revealed that both were picked up from a market in Siddharth Nagar in northern Uttar Pradesh by a team of UP Police and handed over to the Nepal Police.

In return,the Nepal Police allegedly gave the UP Police a man accused of kidnapping and later killing a businessman of neighbouring Sant Kabir Nagar.

Surya Prakash Shukla,45,of Bardawa village in Siddharth Nagar,and his friend Bhawani Singh,a citizen of Nepal,were gunned down in Nepal’s Rupandehi district on the night of March 5. Bhawani had a criminal record in Nepal, and police believe Surya may have got killed because he with with Bhawani at the time.

In the FIR registered by him,Surya’s uncle Dharam Raj Shukla said a police party of Sant Kabir Nagar had helped Nepal Police
