This BJP MP listens to electors’ ‘Mann Ki Baat’

Farmers raised the problem of loss of their crops due to unseasonal rain, lack of electricity and roads in their villages.

Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’, in which he addresses the people of nation on radio, a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh has launched a monthly event by the same name. However, unlike Modi’s address, in the event organised by BJP MP Harish Dwivedi in his constituency Basti, it is the electors and the common masses who are told to present their ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

In his first ‘Mann Ki Baat, Yuvaon Ke Saath’, in Kaptanganj area, recently, Dwivedi interacted with college goers, unemployed youth and farmers and sought to know their expectations from the central government, apart from attending to their complaints and grievances.

“Such programmes will be organised at least once in a Assembly segment every month. This is a medium to directly communicate with the people, understand their expectations from the central government and tell them how Centre could redress their grievances,” Dwivedi told The Indian Express.

When the college going girls expressed concern about safety, the MP expressed inability to provide help and argued that it was the responsibility of the state government to maintain law and order. “But, the central government can ensure your safety in trains because Railways is run by the Centre,” he told them.

Dwivedi also briefed the gathering about schemes and programmes run by the central government such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Soil Health Card Scheme, Beti Bachao-Beti Badhao and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and their benefits.

Farmers raised the problem of loss of their crops due to unseasonal rain, lack of electricity and roads in their villages.

They also demanded to ensure halt of more trains at Basti railway station and opening of a technical college in the district. Girls raised the demand of setting up hostels for them and opening of public libraries.
