Teenagers jump off moving train; 1 dead,another critical

A teenaged boy was killed while another one suffered critical injuries after they jumped from a moving train while travelling without tickets in Saharanpur district late on Tuesday noon.

A teenaged boy was killed while another one suffered critical injuries after they jumped from a moving train while travelling without tickets in Saharanpur district late on Tuesday noon.

The injured boy was referred to the Chandigarh PGI hospital for treatment.

Government Railway Police (GRP) ADG AK Jain told The Indian Express the incident took place when a group of friends – Mayank Jain,Vanshaj,Vishal,Anuj and Akshay Pundheer — all belonging to Madhav Nagar locality of Saharanpur were travelling in Bihar-bound Jan Sewa Express. The boys had boarded the train at Yamuna Nagar in Haryana.

Jain said that none of the boys was carrying train tickets. As the train reached the outer part of Saharanpur station and seemed to have slowed down,Mayank and Vanshaj (both 18-year-old) jumped from the moving train.

While Mayank was dragged under the wheels of the train and was run over,Vanshaj too hit the ground sustaining critical injuries on his head and other parts of the body. Vishal,Anuj and Akshay too jumped down from the train,but it had slowed down following which they suffered minor bruises only,the ADG confirmed.

The GRP and the local police rushed to the spot to find Mayank lying dead and Vanshaj bleeding profusely. He was rushed to the district hospital from where his parents got him referred to the Chandigarh PGI,Jain added.
