A month after his controversial remark on SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav,Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma on Monday said that the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh will fall after the Lok Sabha election. Also, the SP will get not more than four seats in UP,as backward communities and Muslims are moving towards the Congress,he said.
Talking to reporters,Verma claimed that the Congress will win 45 Lok Sabha seats in UP. Inflation and corruption are no issues in the election. In fact, inflation helps farmers when prices of rice and wheat rise. People would see economic development brought under the leadership of Manmohan Singh rather than anything else, he added.
Though he did not explain why the SP government would fall,he indicated that there is a divide within the party and thus MLAs would start quitting the party after the Lok Sabha election. Without naming Mulayam,he said that there is a leader who says that Lal Krishna Advani does not lie and he is the same person who had established the Ramjanmabhoomi police station during his regime as the Chief Minister after consultation with Advani.
Verma said there can be no comparison between Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Advani for the post of prime minister because both are guilty of violence against Muslims. Some have compared Modi with the first PM,Jawaharlal Nehru; it is an insult to Nehru to compare him to an enemy of secularism like Modi, said Verma.
He said that if the current situation remained, the BJP would win not more than five seats in UP and the Congress and the BSP would get more number of seats.
