BSP chief Mayawati today claimed that “the environment of communal harmony has got disturbed under the Samajwadi Party government”,and that it appeared the SP was doing this to indirectly provide advantage to the BJP in polls. Addressing leaders of her party from western Uttar Pradesh,Mayawati alleged that the peaceful environment of the region was disturbed because of the SP government’s policy of sheltering goons and mafia.

According to a party statement, the former chief minister condemned the murder of former MLA Sarvesh Singh “Seepu” in Azamgarh on Friday and said there was an increase in incidents of murder and loot in the state. She alleged the “rule of the jungle” had been established in place of the “rule of law” and the shameful situation called for the central government’s intervention.
