The SilkMark exhibition comprising 52 stalls representing 14 Indian states that concludes today has been unique in showcasing designs that are in step with the times.

“The reason it drew such a favourable response is that gaudy designs have been substituted by smart, trendy and practical ones. More over, there are as many as four stalls vending exclusive designer silk you would find only in boutiques,” says Pankaj Sharma,Assistant Director,SilkMark,an initiative of the Ministry of Textile. One of the highlights of the expo at Hotel Clarks Avadh is the selection of silk dress material, sarees, etc. handprinted with vegetable dyes. It is one stop to shop for silk from faraway Tirupati or from the not so far Varanasi. It was extended by a day,but no further as the next destination is Jaipur.
