A sub-inspector was suspended for allegedly assaulting a woman at her Alambagh residence in Lucknow on Monday night.

On Monday,Roshni had met senior police officers, saying that for the last one month, she had been making rounds of the Alambagh and Mahila police stations to lodge a complaint against her husband, who beats her up frequently over trivial issues. She also alleged that Raj Kumar was asking her to leave the house along with their three children. Roshni was accompanied by former LU vice-chancellor Roop Rekha Verma.
Following this, the senior officers directed the Lucknow police to look into the matter. The Alambagh police lodged an FIR against Raj Kumar and arrested him. The police were angry as I had approached senior officers. Last night, when they came to my house, they assaulted me. They kept saying that I should not have approached their seniors, said Roshni.
On Tuesday, she approached senior officers and informed them of the misbehaviour by the police. Following this,an inquiry was conducted by ASP (East) Harish Kumar into Roshnis allegations. On the basis of preliminary report,Lucknow DIG N K Srivastava suspended Sub-Inspector Subhash Mishra attached with the Alambagh police station. Mishra, however, denied the allegations. I scolded her for creating obstacles in my work. I did not assault her, he said.
