Irrigation and PWD Minister Shivpal Yadav today sought details from officials on the construction of former chief minister’s Mayawati’s dream projects and memorials.

Shivpal summoned senior officials to his office and asked them to justify the demolition of Parikalp Nagar – the residential colony of the irrigation department. The colony had been demolished during the Mayawati regime to make way for her eco garden project, which was later merged with Budh Vihar Shanti Upvan.

The minister asked the officials to submit a report on the total expenses incurred on the construction of Mayawati’s projects and memorials. The dream projects, including parks, memorials and statues, were made a poll issue by the Samajwadi Party during electioneering. The officials have been given a week’s time to submit their reply. After assuming charge, however,Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav ruled out the demolition of statues at these memorials.
