Probe committee ‘indicts’ coach

The committee formed to probe into the matter in which a badminton trainee of Sports College,Lucknow Vinay Verma was allegedly ‘beaten up’ with a stick by Pankaj Pandey,a cricket coach,for making noise during class hours,submitted its report on Monday.

When contacted,principal secretary sports (UP) Lalit Varma informed,“I have got the report. The report has indicted the concerned coach. Since,the government is not the appointing authority,therefore,the government will be writing to them (concerned sports officials) that whatever action has to be taken has to be decided by the appointing authority. In this case the appointing authority is principal Sports College AK Banoda.”

Varma disclosed that “ the report says that there was some provocation from the student concerned and that the coach did resort to ‘physical assault’.”

Talking to The Indian Express,principal Sports College,AK Banoda said that he will only be tell tomorrow about the action that has to be taken. “Once I receive the directives,I will be taking action accordingly.”
