They want you to shed inhibitions about the price and put on apparels off their shelves. Dazzling display of fashion clothing in the big stores of the malls is foreboding no more if you look at the price tag.

“Our target customer is the two-wheeler owner,” declares Arun Sirdeshmukh, chief executive of Reliance Trends whose showroom opened at Phoenix Mall on Wednesday. The pricing— as low as Rs 199 for a T-shirt and Rs 299 for two — is proof. The range of winter wear and other garments for men, women and children is equally attractive.

The price point at most of the big stores in the wake of the festive season is competitive. Be it at Pantaloons,or vendors of haute couture for women,Biba,or any of the multinational brands comprising Lee,Levi’s or Pepe,it is prices that are giving competition to the low-rise jeans and plunging necklines. “We have kept the prices low to fit into everyone’s budgets,” says Adbhut Sharma, store manager,Big Bazaar, drawing attention to T-shirts beginning at Rs 199 and designer sweaters Rs 799 onwards. “As visitors fill their baskets with festival shopping, they wouldn’t find it too hard to pick a garment or two as well. Besides, there are the multiple offers to boot,” he adds. Who says looking dapper called for deeper pockets!
