Hailing teachings of Sant Ravidas, PM Modi unveils his statue in Varanasi on 647th birth anniversary
On Friday, PM Narendra Modi launched several developmental initiatives in the vicinity of Sant Ravidas Janmasthali in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the present government is taking forward the teachings and ideals of Sant Ravidas while following the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas’. Modi made these remarks during his address on the 647th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi where he inaugurated a newly installed statue of Sant Ravidas.
PM Modi, who launched several developmental initiatives in the vicinity of Sant Ravidas Janmasthali, commended the spirit of those traveling from Punjab to Varanasi and noted that Kashi had started to resemble a mini Punjab. He also expressed happiness that as the representative from Kashi, he got the opportunity to serve the followers of Sant Ravidas.
Modi emphasised that throughout India’s history, a saviour in the form of a saint, sage, or notable personality emerges in times of need. He highlighted that Sant Ravidas played a pivotal role in imparting meaning to independence within society and bridging social divides. He raised his voice against untouchability, classism, and discrimination. Sant Ravidas cannot be tied to the ideologies of opinion and religion, he added.
The Prime Minister also detailed the various schemes aimed at upgrading the Janmasthali of Sant Ravidas, including the development of the temple area and construction of approach roads. He added that the saint cannot be tied to the ideologies of opinion and religion. Ravidas, he affirmed, belongs to everyone and everyone belongs to Ravidas.
PM Modi also noted that today also marks the birth anniversary of the great saint and social reformer Gadge Baba and highlighted his contributions towards the upliftment of the deprived and poor.
