On surprise inspection,DGP suspends cop

Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Vikram Singh conducted a surprise inspection at two police stations in Lucknow during the Thana Diwas proceedings on Saturday. A constable on sentry duty was suspended at the Ghazipur police station while a recommendation was made to the Lucknow District Magistrate to initiate action against the tehsil employees found absent at the Hussainganj police station.

The constable was suspended because he was not found alert on duty and was chewing tobacco as the DGP questioned him,according to the police. The DGP examined the documents and routine proceedings at the police stations and issued directives to the IG and DIG of Lucknow to probe into the irregularities found in the police files.
