The state government on Tuesday said it has ended the inspector raj in the Industries Development department and that there will be no more checking of industrial units by the department officials.
The officials will go for an inspection only in inevitable circumstances and that too only on the orders of the district magistrate. There will be no harassment of the industries in the name of inspection, said a senior official of the department. He clarified that routine checking by other departments like power, pollution control and labour will be conducted as usual.
To make the functioning more transparent, the department has also placed the Citizen Charter on its website along with all the government schemes where private players can invest.
The government is also reviving the Facilitation Councils across the state, which were lying non-functional. The councils facilitated the functioning of,among others, the small and medium scale industries, from which various government departments make purchases.
After the elections, the government is busy reviving old schemes and reissuing old orders for the promotion of industrial development in the state.
Last week, the government revived the escort service for investors,in which the government officials were assigned to help investors in setting up industries. The district units of Udyog Bandhus have also been revived.
