Mother not to help police

A day after DGP Karamvir Singh transferred the Divya Singh death probe from Kanpur police to CB-CID,her mother Sonu Singh Bhadoria refused to cooperate with the new agency.

A day after DGP Karamvir Singh transferred the Divya Singh death probe from Kanpur police to CB-CID,her mother Sonu Singh Bhadoria refused to cooperate with the new agency, saying she had no faith in the state police.

Bhadoria, who has demanded a CBI inquiry, now plans to file a petition in the Allahabad High Court to press for it.

“From the very first day,the Kanpur police has favoured the authorities of Bharti Gyan Sthali school and I do not expect justice from CB-CID inquiry,” Bhadoria told The Indian Express. She alleged that the police had made a scapegoat of her neighbor,Munna Lal Lodhi. “Senior police officers, too, said Lodhi is the culprit but we firmly believe that he was not involved in the crime,” she said. “A man who was not in the city from September to September 27,when my daughter died, has been framed.”

Under the circumstances, the CB-CID can’t hold a fair inquiry, she said. “I have spoken to my lawyer, and if our demand is not accepted by the state government, then we will file a writ in the Allahabad High Court.” Bhadoria said there was no valid reason for the police to delay the arrest of Piyush Verma — the second son of school manager Chandra Pal Verma — when she had told the police that she suspected him. Verma had his elder son Sudhir Kumar had been arrested on September 30,and Piyush on October 15.

A four-member CB-CID team,which visited Bhadoria’s Roshan Nagar house on Sunday,has returned empty-handed. Led by Additional SP D P Srivastava,the team included Inspectors A K Singh,R K Chaturvedi and T P Singh. Earlier,the team visited Bharti Gyan Sthali school.

D P Srivastava said: “We are not relying on the police report,it is a fresh investigation.” He said all persons linked with the incident will be questioned. The team will contact Bhadoria again on Monday morning.

Union MoS for Coal Sriprakash Jaiswal, who is the local MP,said: “If the state government calls for a CBI inquiry in the matter, the Centre will accept it.” He said the state should accept Bhadoria’s demand “if she is not satisfied with the police probe”.
