The BJPs next Vijay Shankhnad rally,to be addressed by partys prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi scheduled in Bahraich on November 8,would focus on national security given that the district shares border with Nepal. The issue has supposedly assumed significance for the party after the arrest of Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Afzal Usmani from Bahraichs Rupaidiha railway station last week. Local police have already put up posters of another IM operative Tehseen Akhtar at public places in Baharich and near Nepal border apprehending disturbances. Akhtar is named in Patna serial blasts that took place recently during Modis rally. The party plans to display UP map in the backdrop of the stage. In his earlier two rallies in Jhansi and Kanpur,Modi and party national president Rajnath Singh raised national security albeit in limited words. Party spokesperson Dr Chandra Mohan said: Entry of terror operatives in India via Nepal is frequent and that is a threat for national security. The party leaders may speak on the issue in the rally. Party state president Laxmikant Bajpai said national security was on BJPs agenda but no one knows the issue that Modi and other leaders will raise in the rally. The UP Police, too,is exercising more caution for Modis rally. Vigil along the Nepal border has been beefed up and CCTV cameras have been installed at the rally ground. Sources said the local BJP unit has requested the administration to provide a bullet-proof podium on the stage for Modi. Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) is already deployed for security of the rally ground. For the party, the Bahraich rally will also be a public meeting of 16 Lok Sabha constituencies of Awadh region where Congress dominates with 10 Lok Sabha members at present. BJP has only one MP Lalji Tandon from Lucknow from this region. The Awadh region is crucial for the BJP because of Ayodhya where Ram Janmabhoomi movement started. At the time of Ram Mandir issue,BJP won a large number of seats in that region. But when that issue lost shine over time, the party too lost base among the backward voters who dominate the region, said a party leader. Modis fourth rally in Agra on Nov 21 BJPs PM face Narendra Modis fourth Vijay Shankhnad Rally is scheduled to be held in Agra (Braj region) on November 21,said BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai. Modi has already held rallies in Kanpur and Jhansi while the third will be held in Bahraich.
