Mob Story

Zee TV’s dancing sensation recalls

IN Dehradun, dance is religion. Or so it seems from what Raghav Juyal tells us about his visit to his hometown after becoming the star of Dance India Dance on Zee TV. “I went to a place near the Sai temple and word spread. All the devotees of the temple and visitors to a monastery nearby flocked to the spot where I was and I had a tough time getting out of the mob,” recalls Raghav Juyal, who was among the top 5 in the last season of the show. “After all,I don’t have any security guards or other staff,so now when I visit home,I move only in a car and don’t come out of it unless I am sure there isn’t a crowd,” he says, adding,“It is much worse in Mumbai, where everyone seems to know me,” says the dancer, whose USP is a slow-motion style of dancing he has devised. Raghav was in Lucknow along with Faisal Khan, the winner of DID Li’l Champs, who is taking part in a new show called Dance ke Superkids in which winners of various shows will compete on the dance floor against each other and in which Raghav plays a captain. The Zee TV show goes on air from August 25.

“I haven’t met my mother since I won the title, but she was ecstatic when I spoke to her on phone,” says Faisal, with a glint in his eyes. A class VIII student of a Mumbai school,he is the son of an auto driver and learnt to groove in a local dance school. “I am happy to have come this far and to have assured my parents that whatever I was pursuing was well worth it,” he smiles.
