The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday fielded two candidates — Laxman Acharya and Daya Shanker Singh for the upcoming biennial MLC polls, who filed their nomination papers on Tuesday. Presently, 13 candidates— eight from Samajwadi Party, three from Bahujan Samaj Party and two from BJP have filed their nominations for 12 vacant seats in the Upper House. If there is no withdrawal by January 16, polling will be held making the elections prestigious with every party seeking extra votes for their candidates.
