The body of an ice-cream vendor,who had gone missing on Sunday,was recovered from a graveyard in Gomti Nagar area on Thursday. A case of murder has been lodged against five persons for allegedly murdering the ice-cream vendor and dumping his body.
According to the police,Raju,a resident of Thakurganj,who used to sell ice-cream near Ambedkar Park in Gomti Nagar,had gone missing on Sunday after a fight with other ice-cream vendors who sold the ice-cream at the same place. Later,Rajus wife Kankai had lodged an FIR at Thakurganj police station about her husband going missing.
While the police failed to trace Raju,his body was found in a graveyard in Ujariyaon area of Gomti Nagar on Thursday. The body was later identified as Raju after the police recovered it.
An FIR has been lodged against Ram Sujan,Ramji,Niranjan,Ram Autar and Suresh Kumar Pandey,who are also ice-cream vendors,on the complaint of Kankai. Circle Officer,Gomti Nagar,V S Mishra said prima facie it appeared that Raju was strangled by his fellow ice-cream vendors and his body was dumped in the graveyard. He said other ice-cream vendors had killed Raju after having a fight with him for selling his ice-cream at cheaper rates. He added that no one was arrested.
