Millionare Gandhi scion owns no car,no house

While Rahul has Rs 70,000 in cash with him,he has around Rs 18 lakh in his three bank accounts. He has no bonds,shares or debentures but has a PPF of Rs 10.29 lakh,besides jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh. Other assets include values of claims and interest worth Rs 7.30 lakh.

The young AICC general secretary may have agricultural land and commercial property,he does not have a house of his own. He has agriculture land at two places — the Indira Gandhi Farm House at village Sultanpur in Mehrauli at New Delhi,of which he is a 50 per cent share holder (4.692 acres valued at Rs 9.86 lakh) and at village Mauja Hasanpur in Faridabad (6 acres valued at Rs 28.22 lakh). He also owns two commercial shops at Metropolitan Mall at Saket in New Delhi — shop no 24 and shop number 17-A at the ground floor — which are valued at nearly Rs 60 lakh and Rs 1.8 crore,respectively.

Rahul does not have any dues on account of water,electricity or telephone bills. He has an outstanding amount of Rs 23.35 lakh of the Rs70-lakh loan he was given by the HDFC bank on December 15,2006.

Rahul did his M Phil in development economics from Trinity College in Cambridge in 1995. Before that,he did his BA from Rollins College,Florida,in 1994 and senior secondary from CBSE in 1989.
