Some eye-openers about the burger bar
Not just fast food, the quick servic e restaurant Mc Donalds also makes a bid to put into your mouth those three words: Im loving it! Yet,if you wonder why the menu has remained the same for over a decade of its launch in India, chew on this: The bun is from Noida, but the sesame on it comes from Ghaziabad…the lettuce from Pune, the potato for the fries from New Zealand. Every component of everything we offer is from a different place,so menu engineering is a major task, says Ashish Bithar,Area Manager Mc Donalds Lucknow,Kanpur and Allahabad units, announcing new additions to the menu the Mc Spicy range comprising Mc Spicy paneer/chicken burgers and wraps, priced at Rs 89 and Rs 109,respectively. The wraps and burgers are high on spice, only for those who like it hot.
At the stage of testing a recipe,4,800 patties are prepared and change they undergo every minute is observed at the Hong Kong laboratory. If found below the standard or deflecting from the specifications, they are rejected and a revised set of 4,800 is put to test, says Bithar. It was 13 years after our launch in India that the company approved of potatoes from Lahaul Spiti in Himachal, but off season those too are replaced by the New Zealand crop, he said, adding that the spicy range was a paradigm shift from the typically mild McD fare and would be coming with IPL merchandise when the T20 season begins.
