A stray horse in the Rail Bazaar area accounted for the death of 50-year-old Abdul Razzaq on Friday morning. The horse went berserk outside the Ram Leela ground of Rail Bazaar and Razzaq was crushed under its hooves. Confirming the death,Assistant Superintendent of Police (Kanpur West) D K Choudhary said: In an effort to rescue Razzaq,a few locals sustained slight injuries. The annoyed crowd chased away the horse to the Ram Leela Ground,from where it was caught by the Cattle Catching Section of Kanpur Nagar Nigam (KNN). The animal,however,died minutes later. In the evening,the civic workers buried it in the outskirts of Panki area. Rizwan,the son of Razzaq,said: Some locals said that they had spotted the horse moving around Ram Leela ground for past few days,but no one paid it any attention. A resident of Rail Bazaar area,Rizwan said that his father was a tailor and worked in a shop in the Cantt area. This morning,he was walking towards the shop,when the horse attacked him outside the Ram Leela ground, he added. The in-charge of the cattle catching section at KNN,Dr Anurag Singh,said: It was only after the incident that our team was apprised about the horse. According to him,this was for the first time the horse had attacked anyone. Dr Singh said no one turned up at the KNN to claim the animals body. So instead of opting for a post-mortem,we buried it in the evening, he added.
