The Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and the intelligence wing of the Uttar Pradesh Police are on their toes following terror alerts from central intelligence agencies for the Republic Day.
The two state agencies are keeping a close watch on Lucknow,Mathura,Noida,Meerut and Ghaziabad.
Additional DG for Law and Order and ATS Brij Lal said,Additional force has been given to the police chiefs of Lucknow,Noida,Ghaziabad and Meerut for deployment at vulnerable places. Besides Lucknow,the security in NCR districts has been beefed up in view of the terror threat in Delhi.
Brij Lal also said the ATS and the district police chiefs have been instructed to conduct checking of the flying clubs and the air-strips from where the micro-light aircraft,hang-gliders or helicopters can take off.
The SPs have been asked to keep a constant watch at these places and deploy sufficient security.
Besides,the SPs have also been asked to keep a watch on the PCOs in their districts and alert their owners to maintain a log-book of all calls made from their outlets.
Eight companies of the armed PAC men have been sanctioned for Lucknow alone to be deployed in risk zones across the city. Senior ATS officials have intensified the vigil and intelligence collection, the ADG added.
ATS DIG Rajiv Krishna said the officials of the wing have been put on alert in NCR districts and are on the job over inputs regarding the terror threat in Delhi. Besides,they would be keeping an eye on the activities of suspicious elements,he said.
