‘Lovers’ found dead near rail tracks

Dismembered bodies of a young boy and girl were found alongside railway tracks in Nawabganj area of the city in early hours of Tuesday.

Dismembered bodies of a young boy and girl were found alongside railway tracks in Nawabganj area of the city in early hours of Tuesday. The police suspect the young couple had committed suicide after getting married to each other. So far,the police has ruled any foul play.

However, the police has not ruled out the possibility of the incident being a result of the families of the couple opposed to their relationship because they belonged to different castes.

According to the police, the incident came to light this morning by some people, who had gone to attend nature’s call in the fields alongside the railway track, nearly a kilometer away from Kaurihar railway crossing under Nawabganj police station. They found the body parts and informed the police.

“The parts of the badly mutilated bodies were lying scattered around. We also found bangles on the arms of the girls and vermillion in her hair. We suspect they first got married before deciding to jump in front of the train,” said Circle Officer (Koraon) Pawan Kumar Singh. He added that post-mortem of the bodies was being conducted. The exact timing of the incident was being ascertained,he said.

The young couple was last seen alive when they had left the college together on Monday. The police, however, said the parents of none of them had lodged any missing complaint. The boy has been identified as Ankit alias Pintoo,a class 12 student of Saraswati G B Parmananda Sinha Intermediate College,Saraswatipur,Kaurihar. His father Maya Ram Patel,a resident of Nawabganj,is a farmer and the family is economically well placed.

The girl — Mohini —daughter of Suresh Pasi,a resident of Prithvipur (Jalalpur Chandhan) in Nawabganj, was a student of class 11 in the same college.

Singh said so far none of the families has raised any suspicion of foul play. “However,it appears they were in love and wanted to marry each other but there was some opposition following which they decided to take such a step. Investigations are on to ascertain the facts,” said Singh.
