On Saturday afternoon,Kapoor visited the area to meet his friend Pradip Saraswat,Jaiswal’s neighbour. Supporters of Kapoor had an altercation with Kaishal Pal,who owns a sweet shop in the area. Pal is a supporter of Jaiswal.

The sweet shop and the adjoining jewelry shop owned by Pal’s brother Sushil were ransacked in the incident. The first FIR was registered by Pal,who alleged that Kapoor and his supporters thrashed him and looted the jewelry shop. Mahana was also mentioned in the FIR. “Mahana is Kapoor’s cousin,” he said. Saraswat also alleged that Jaiswal’s brother Pramod,son Siddarth and their supporters broke inside his timber store and looted valuables. A case of dacoity under Section 395 of the IPC has been registered against Pramod,Siddarth and a few others.

DIG Kanpur Hari Ram Sharma said,“The incident is an outcome of political vendetta.” Siddarth claimed that a false case has been registered against him. “I was not in the city,” he said. Pramod also denied having any participation in the incident.

Mahana said,“I have no connection with the issue.” He claimed that the move has been initiated on the behest of the Union minister. “He is well aware that he does not stand a chance of winning the elections therefore through his supporters he has leveled a fake charge on me,” he added.
