Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) state president Najmul Ghani pitched for the setting up of an anti-riot force in the state when he met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at his residence Friday. The IUML is headed by E Ahamed,who is the Minister of State for External Affairs. We have raised issues concerning Muslims during our meeting with Akhilesh Yadav. He was sympathetic and assured us of suitable action, Ghani said. He also demanded reservation for Muslims within the 27 per cent reservation quota for the backward communities. The state should adopt the Kerala model. There are no legal hurdles, he said. The IUML also demanded the district administration give permission for repairs and maintenance of mosques across the state. District administration holds up permission for the extension of mosques. This leads to disenchantment within the community, he added. Samajwadi Party sources said the IUML is also trying to secure a government post ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. There is nothing wrong in it as we had discussed this before the elections. We have placed our demands and the CM has assured us of suitable adjustment, Ghani added. Actors murder: Wife,paramour arrested LUCKNOW:The wife of an actor and cultural troupe owner was arrested by the police Friday for allegedly murdering her husband with the help of her paramour at their house in Ghazipur police station area on the night of August 4. Police said Jagdish Verma,who used to organise street plays,was murdered by his wife Pinky and her paramour Vinod Kumar Lodhi,a resident of Pilibhit district. Both of them have been arrested. Ghazipur station officer N S Sirohi said Pinky and Lodhi decided to kill Verma after he came to know about their affair. On the night of August 4,Pinky had called Lodhi to her house,Sirohi said. Police said Lodhi and Pinky first tried to strangle Verma,who was sleeping in his room,but when he resisted Lodhi hit him on his head with a cricket bat. Police said on examining Pinkys call detail records it was found that she had been talking to Lodhi using different SIM cards. Pinky had named two unknown persons in her complaint to mislead investigation,Sirohi said.
