In SP regime,attention shifts to Lohia park

After five years of neglect during the previous BSP rule,Ram Manohar Lohia Park in Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow is all set to get a facelift in the present Samajwadi Party regime.

After five years of neglect during the previous BSP rule,Ram Manohar Lohia Park in Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow is all set to get a facelift in the present Samajwadi Party regime.

A dream project of former chief minister Maulayam Singh Yadav,the park is going to get new varieties of trees and facilities for the visitors.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Garg today inspected the park along with officials of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA). He issued directives to make some changes in the park.

LDA vice-chairman Rajneesh Dube said 11 mango trees of rare varieties would be planted in the park. These varieties have been developed by renowned mango grafter Kalimullah Khan in Malihabad at the outskirts of the city. Over 1,200 new plants would be planted in the park this month.

Dube said that migratory birds of over two dozen different species come to Lohia Park in winter. “The name of these birds,with species and photographs would be displayed in the park,” he said. He added that canopies would be erected along the walking track to protect the visitors from the sun and the number of benches would also be increased in the park.
