Demolition in Lucknow: SC refers issue to HC
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court returned the issue of demolition of dilapidated buildings in Lucknow regarding which a government order was issued in 2008 to the Allahabad High Court on Friday. A Bench comprising Justices H S Bedi and C K Prasad also vacated the stay on the High Court order,which had sought details about the structures proposed to be demolished by the authorities. The Bench returned the matter to the High Court after it was told that the government order was related to a particular locality where old and dilapidated buildings were demolished and the land converted into a park.

BTech student commits suicide
LUCKNOW: A first-year BTech student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his Gosaiganj residence in Lucknow on Friday. Zeeshan (19) left a note saying that no one should be held responsible for his death and he was taking the extreme step without under anyones pressure,said police. Preliminary investigation,however,revealed that Zeeshan was unhappy with his performance in the annual exams,which were held in April.
Zeeshan had gone to his institute on Thursday to inquire about the result. He looked depressed since then, said Akshay Kumar,in-charge of Gomti Nagar police station,quoting Zeeshans family and friends.
Women sets herself on fire,dies
LUCKNOW: A 24-year-old woman,Shobha Yadav,allegedly set herself ablaze at her residence in Lucknows Chinhat area on Friday. No suicide note has been found. Jagdish Yadav,who arrived from Barabanki after getting information about his daughters death,lodged an FIR alleging that her husband,Purushottam Yadav,used to harass and beat her over trivial matters. He accused Purushottam of driving her into committing suicide. The police who have arrested Purushottam said Shobha set herself ablaze after she had a quarrel with her husband over tea.
