Mid-day meal quota: CPM slams govt’s order against Dalits
The state council of CPM on Tuesday criticised the state government’s decision to withdraw the reservation system for Dalits in the appointment of cooks under mid-day meal scheme. It also directed its district units to start demonstrations in areas where children have refused to eat the meals prepared by Dalit cooks. The CPM called the order as politically motivated and said it will launch a campaign against such atrocities against Dalits.

BJP chief campaigns against inflation
The BJP state president,Surya Pratap Shahi,flagged off the vehicles with banners displaying a signature campaign against inflation,in Lucknow on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion,Shahi said his party has collected 25 lakh signatures against inflation,which will be presented to the President on July 29. The BJP has demanded that the state government should reduce taxes on petroleum products and other essential commodities.
