Bail for BJP MPs husband in assault case
The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has granted bail to the husband of BJP Rajya Sabha member Kusum Rai and another person who were sentenced to five years imprisonment by a lower court in a 27-year-old assault case. The bail pleas of Rajesh Rai and Radhey Shyam alias Ram Sewak were admitted quashing the fast-track order in the 1983 case when the accused had allegedly assaulted Mewalal,a minor,over a garbage litter dispute.
2 held for illegal arms dealing
Two persons,including a woman,were arrested for allegedly dealing in illegal firearms,in the Nakka area here on Wednesday. The Special Task Force nabbed the duo who were the members of an inter-state gang involved in the business of illegal firearms,a senior police official said. Arif and Geeta Devi were arrested this afternoon near GRP Lines and two .32 bore pistols were recovered from their possession, Special Director General of Police Brij Lal told reporters.
Agency formed for afforestation
The state government has constituted State Forest Development Agency (SFDA) to coordinate with the union government for National Afforestation and Eco-development Programme (NAEP). The SFDA will be managing the district forest development agencies and facilitate plantation in various forest divisions with community support.
IAS officer shifted
Senior IAS officer Sanjay Agarwal,who is Principal Secretary (Agriculture,Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development),has been asked to take additional charge of Principal Secretary (Land Development and Water Resources). Durga Shankar Mishra,who was the principal secretary in the department,will continue to hold the post of principal secretary to the chief minister.
