House allottees heave a sigh of relief

About 200 urban poor in Lucknow who were given allotment letters of houses under Shree Kanshiramji Shahari Gareeb Awaas Yojna on Friday, had never thought that they would ever own a house. Coming from economically deprived classes, they lived in slums and earned just enough to survive.

At a ‘Jan Kalyankari Shivir’ held to mark Chief Minister Mayawati’s 54th birthday,Urban Development Minister Nakul Dube distributed the allotment letters of the houses — each of which has two rooms,a kitchen and bathroom. The houses, located at Para, are almost ready and the allottees will get possession after 15 days.

The scheme was launched last year and the allotment letters were issued on Friday at camps across the state.

And the allottees can hardly believe their luck.
