Ganga expedition from Oct 24

In an effort to promote adventure sports and also to convey the message of Ganga and environment conservation.

In an effort to promote adventure sports and also to convey the message of Ganga and environment conservation,the ‘Ganga Abhiyan-2010’ will be organised from Haridwar to Patna as a part of the Uttar Pradesh Police’s adventure sports series. The expedition will be flagged off at 9.00 am on October 24 from Haridwar and after covering a distance of 1300 km,it will culminate at Patna on November 21.

The logo of the expedition carrying the message— ‘Nirmal Ganga-Aviral Pravah’ was inaugurated by secretary Uttar Pradesh Police Sports Control Board and IG Police Arun Kumar. DG Tourism (UP) Awanish Awasthi was also present on the occasion.

While in the first phase Kayak and Conoes will be used,in the second phase the expedition will be done in the regular rowing boats. The expedition aims at covering a distance of 1300 km in 27 days. The expedition will also explore the possibilities of development of water sports in the river Ganga.

The places that the expedition team will be covering include Haridwar,Balawali,Garmukteshwar,Anupshahar,Narora dam,Bulandshahr,Kachhlaghat,Fatehgarh,Kannauj,Billhaur,Bithoor,Kanpur,Unnao,Dalmau,Kalakankar,Pratapgarh,Prayag,Allahabad,Sirsa,Manda,Mirzapur,Vidhyanchal,Chunar,Varanasi,Sidpurghat,Gauspur,Kotwa Narainpur,Ballia and Khaspur (Patna).
